Ivan the Great Bell Tower, started in 1505 and erected to its current height of 266 feet in 1600, in the Kremlin, Moscow. The tallest of the bell towers ringing the Moscow Kremlin complex, it was built for the Assumption, Archangel and Annunciation cathedrals, which do not have their own belfries, and is said to mark Moscow's precise geographic centre.
