The ruins of Mt. Grace Priory one of the ten "Carthusian charterhouses", whose Carthusian monks lived as hermits in cottage-like cells, in North Yorkshire. Founded in 1398, it was the last monastery established in Yorkshire before the Reformation. The priory was closed in 1539 during the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII. (07/13/1993)
